Furthermore, this little park is well-known for its land iguanas which laze about in the trees while they catch the sun, we invite you to take some time for your best photo shooting with these dinosaur descendants. We will do a few steps from the park to visit the city Cathedral, built-in classical gothic style, and then we&#8217;ll move on to Guayaquil\u2019s famous wide, tree-lined waterfront, \u201cEl Malecon\u201d, that runs alongside the Guayas River.<\/p><p>The next stop for the Guayaquil city tour will be the historic local government buildings, the \u201cPalacio Municipal\u201d and then the \u201cPalacio de Gobernaci\u00f3n\u201d (the Government Palace). Right in front of this palace is the Moorish clock tower \u201cLa Torre Morisca\u201d, which was built in 1843, and with a little effort climbing its steep stairs, we can enjoy the views across the city and the Guayas River. La Rotonda, another historic monument, is a statue that marks the meeting between Simon Bolivar and Jose San Mart\u00edn in 1822.<\/p><p>The old district of Las Pe\u00f1as, a vestige of old Guayaquil at the Malecon\u00b4s north end. It is a picturesque neighborhood built on the Cerro Santa Ana hill at the river edge. We will end the Guayaquil city tour by climbing the stairway amid the brightly painted wooden houses, where you can find some bars and local stores; after four hundred forty-four stairs you will reach the lighthouse monument from where you will gain a different perspective of Ecuador\u2019s largest city.<\/p><p>You will have the afternoon at leisure.
